After her first release in 2012 with the Curly Mess EP, came the hit live shows, always served with a singular badass attitude that doesn’t ask for permission to shower the audience with the most urgent and real funk. The debut album Chick to Chick arrived in 2015 , produced alongside Xinobi, Moullinex, Cut Slack and Isac Ace, and it marked a very important moment in her constantly growing career. Call Me Foxy EP was released in 2017, and it’s co-produced by French producer Saintard. Don’t Feel Like Talkin’, a digital mixtape available on her Mixcloud, is another recent sample of Da Chick’s singularity and talent, where she assumes total control of beat production and also started playing her own DJ sets.
2019 now marks Da Chick’s growth as a performer with a successful US tour early in the year and the release of Larirá, a new track produced entirely by the artist herself and donated to the Earth Night 2019 compilation, released by DJs For Climate for awareness on climate change. Her latest collabs also include a funky fresh single with Mirror People — Drinks Promise Better.
Control is actually a word that fits Da Chick perfectly - with it being her alone carrying her name and image: new releases, but also design, styling, videos... And on stage, escorted by a DJ or a full band, Da Chick makes sure you get the message on who’s the funk machine: her powerful and lightning live shows granted her a win for Best Live Performance Award in Portugal and to be invited by Peaches to sing on her show at Vodafone Mexefest and to open for massive Funk legends like Earth Wind and Fire and Maceo Parker at EDP Cool Jazz.
